Latin name: Rumex acetosa
Description: Common sorrel is found in a range of habitats, across grasslands, woodland rides, road verges and sand dunes. Common sorrel is an important larval food plant of the small copper butterfly, and the red or green flowers are carried on long spikes.

Mangement: Although the Common Sorrel plant can be established on chalky sites it thrives best on neutral to slightly acidic soils. Regeneration is mainly by seeds which are produced in quantity.
