Description

Amphibious Bistort (Persicaria amphibia) is a versatile native perennial wildflower that produces dense spikes of bright pink flowers from June to September. It grows in both shallow water and damp ground, making it an excellent choice for ponds, wetlands, and marginal planting schemes.

This species thrives in consistently moist soils or shallow freshwater and grows best in full sun or partial shade. It naturally occurs along pond margins, lakes, rivers, ditches, and marshes across the UK. Therefore, it is well suited to wetland restoration, habitat creation, and aquatic landscaping projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, hoverflies, butterflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the summer. In addition, its spreading stems provide shelter for aquatic invertebrates and help create diverse wetland habitats. The lush foliage also adds texture and seasonal interest around the water’s edge.
