Biting Stonecrop (Sedum acre) is a low-growing perennial that forms dense cushions over rocks, walls, sand dunes, and abandoned buildings across the lowlands of the UK and Ireland. In summer, it produces tiny, star-shaped flowers in a bright yellow hue, which stand out against its fleshy green leaves. The plant thrives in dry, well-drained locations and often colonizes challenging, nutrient-poor sites where other plants struggle to grow. Its compact growth and vivid blooms make it a striking feature in wild landscapes, rock gardens, and urban green spaces.

Stonecrops grow well in thin and poor soils ,although management is required to prevent them from spreading unchecked. If regularly dead-headed ,it will carry flowers from early June until late August. |
