Sweet Violet (Viola odorata) is a fragrant perennial growing 10–15 cm tall with dark purple, violet, or occasionally white flowers. Blooming from March to May, its early spring flowers provide nectar for bees emerging from winter dormancy. The plant forms low, spreading clumps of heart-shaped green leaves, thriving in woodlands, hedgerows, and shaded garden borders. Viola odorata adds early-season colour, fragrance, and ecological value to naturalistic and semi-shaded plantings.
