Description

Common Water-Crowfoot (Ranunculus aquatilis) is a native aquatic perennial that produces attractive white flowers with bright yellow centres from April to August. Floating leaves and delicate underwater foliage create a beautiful display in ponds, ditches, and slow-moving streams.

This species thrives in shallow, clean water and grows best in full sun or partial shade. It naturally occurs in ponds, lakes, canals, streams, and other freshwater habitats across the UK. Consequently, it is an excellent choice for pond creation, wetland restoration, and habitat enhancement projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the flowering season. In addition, the submerged foliage provides valuable shelter for aquatic invertebrates, amphibians, and fish. It also helps increase biodiversity by creating a healthy aquatic environment for a wide range of wildlife.
