Description

Greater Spearwort (Ranunculus lingua) is a bold native perennial wildflower that produces large, bright yellow flowers from June to August. Its tall stems and lance-shaped leaves create strong vertical interest, making it a standout species in ponds, wetlands, and marginal planting schemes.

This species flourishes in shallow water and consistently wet soils. It grows best in full sun or partial shade and naturally occurs in marshes, fens, ditches, pond margins, and slow-moving waterways across the UK. Consequently, it is well suited to wetland restoration, habitat creation, and aquatic landscaping projects.

The open flowers attract bees, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the summer. In addition, the dense foliage provides valuable shelter for amphibians, aquatic invertebrates, and other wetland wildlife. Its upright habit also adds structure and diversity to species-rich aquatic habitats.

Our Greater Spearwort plants for sale are priced per plant. For orders over 500 plants please contact us.
