Description

Lesser Pondsedge (Carex acutiformis) is a robust, rhizomatous perennial sedge commonly found in damp, nutrient-rich soils across Europe. It thrives in wetlands, marshes, and along the edges of ponds and streams. This species forms dense clumps of tall, arching, grass-like leaves and produces brownish flower spikes from late spring to early summer. Carex acutiformis plays an important ecological role in stabilizing soil and providing habitat for wildlife.
