Description

Common Sedge (Carex nigra), also known as Black Sedge, is a perennial grass-like plant with long rhizomes and narrow, strap-like leaves tinged with red-brown at the base. Its slender stems carry cylindrical flower spikes, with female flowers forming the lower clusters and male flowers positioned above. The plant thrives in damp meadows, marshes, and along stream edges. It helps stabilise soil and provides valuable cover and food for wetland wildlife.

Our Common Sedge plug plants for sale are priced per plant. This product has a minimum quantity of 10 plug plants. For orders over 500 plug plants please contact us.

All our plants are native British wildflowers grown in Peat-free compost in our sustainable nursery.
