Description

The Sneezewort (Achillea ptarmica) plant is an attractive perennial growing mostly on clay soils in meadows, roadsides, ditches and banks. It has clusters of small white daisy-like flowers on erect stems. The white flowers attract hoverflies and other insects. The plant gets its name from the crushing of its leaves which causes sneezing. It is present throughout the UK and northern Ireland, having a more patchy distribution in southern Ireland.
