Borage (Borago officinalis) Herb

Borage (Borago officinalis) grows quickly and forms a bold, spreading plant with coarse, hairy foliage. This hardy annual reaches around 60 centimetres tall. Bright blue, star-shaped flowers appear over a long season, therefore the plant supports bees and other pollinators. Additionally, borage tolerates poor soils and dry conditions once established. It prefers full sun but copes with light shade. Strong stems hold flowers well above the leaves. The textured leaves release a distinctive scent when handled. Finally, borage self-seeds readily, helping it return each year without extra effort.
