Wood Crane’s-bill (Geranium sylvaticum) is a hardy perennial wildflower commonly found in woodlands, hay meadows, grasslands, and along roadsides. It has a distinctly upland and northern distribution in the UK, being uncommon in southern England, Wales, and Ireland. The plant produces clusters of purple to violet flowers from late spring to summer, providing an excellent nectar source for butterflies, hoverflies, moths, and bumblebees. Geranium sylvaticum adds colour, structure, and ecological value to naturalistic plantings and upland habitats.
