Spiny Restharrow (Ononis spinosa) is a hardy, perennial shrub with stiff, spiny stems and tough, green foliage. From late spring to summer, it produces vibrant pink to purple flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. The plant thrives in well-drained soils, particularly in dry, sunny grasslands, roadside verges, and calcareous slopes. Ononis spinosa adds colour, structure, and ecological value to naturalistic and wildflower plantings.
