Description

Meadow Vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis) is a vigorous native perennial wildflower that produces clusters of bright yellow, pea-like flowers from June to August. Its climbing stems add colour and interest to wildflower meadows, grasslands, and natural planting schemes.

This species thrives in moist, well-drained soils and grows best in full sun or partial shade. It naturally occurs in hay meadows, roadside verges, woodland edges, and rough grasslands across the UK. As a result, it is an excellent choice for habitat restoration and conservation projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the summer. Additionally, as a member of the pea family, Meadow Vetchling helps improve soil fertility by fixing nitrogen. Its trailing growth habit also provides valuable cover for insects and other wildlife.
