Gypsywort (Lycopus europaeus) is a medium to tall, slightly hairy plant with oval to elliptical leaves. The leaves are toothed, mostly stalked, and pinnately lobed at the base. Small white flowers, about 4 mm across, grow in dense whorls at the base of the upper leaves. Gypsywort thrives in wet habitats, particularly along canal and river banks and beside streams. Its upright growth adds structure to damp areas and provides nectar for insects.

Plants can be grown in sun ,shade or semi shade and provide an attractive green foliage that contrasts nicely with the water of a pond edge or lake. Gypsywort looks best growing amongst other wetland plants with similar flowering times ,for example Purple loosestrife ,Hemp agrimony and Water Mint. |
