Description

Marsh Bedstraw (Galium palustre) is a low-growing native perennial wildflower that produces clusters of small white flowers from June to August. Its delicate appearance and spreading habit make it an excellent choice for wetlands, pond margins, and damp grassland planting schemes.

This species thrives in consistently moist or waterlogged soils and grows best in full sun or partial shade. It naturally occurs in marshes, fens, wet meadows, ditches, and along stream banks across the UK. As a result, it is well suited to wetland restoration, habitat creation, and conservation projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the summer. Additionally, the dense foliage provides valuable cover for invertebrates and other small wildlife. Its creeping growth habit also helps establish diverse, species-rich wetland habitats.
