Our Wet Meadow/Damp Grassland Seed mix is a ‘wild’ seed harvested mix. This mix is suitable for damp grassland, damp hay meadows, wet areas in gardens, or by the side of a pond or lake. These plants will do well where there is a management regime similar to that of a hay meadow. Once established this mix will provide habitat for a wide range of insects, birds and small mammals and provide a splash of colour in the spring and early summer months.

All our seeds are true UK native wildflowers, harvested from sites across the country many within Cumbria and some from our own meadows. We also work with Wildlife Organisations and collect wild seed from their Nature Reserves and other wildlife sites under a DEFRA permit.
By choosing our products, you support British growers and suppliers who work closely with local farmers and businesses. However, be aware that some online sellers import non-native plants and seeds. While these may be cheaper, they are not true UK natives and may not suit our environment.
Management
We recommend a sowing rate of 4g–15g per m², depending on site conditions. For example, sowing onto bare soil will need a higher rate. This mix grows best in neutral pH soils between 5.5 and 7. All plants in the mix are perennial, returning year after year. Establishing a new wet meadow takes time, so allow 3–5 years for the transition from a species-poor sward to a rich, diverse habitat. During this period, good management is key. These plants thrive in grassland managed as a hay meadow. Cut and clear all vegetation once a year, ideally after the plants have dropped their seed. With every order, we include guidance on soil preparation, sowing, and aftercare. With all are orders we offer specialist advice to help you create a 3–5 year management plan.
This product is priced per unit (1 gram of seed), and we have a minimum order of 10 units (10 grams) for this seed mix. For orders over 5kg please contact us.
