Our Orchard Meadow Neutral Soil 75:25 Seed Mix is a true UK Native seed mix found in tradtional UK Orchard Meadows. Most of our seed for this seed mix is ‘wild’ harvested from High Quality native meadows. Our seed contains True UK native grasses and please note when comparing seed please check that the grassess are Native and not agricultural varieties and that they also contain suitable native meadow grasses. This is because the grasses are the main plants in the meadow and the agricultural grass varieties, with the same Latin name, can grow bigger and our compete the wildflower forbs (the colourful plants).
This seed mix is sold fresh after brush harvesting in the summer and is ideal for orchards or gardens on neutral soils managed like a hay meadow/cut alt least once. With every order, we provide guidance on soil preparation, sowing, and aftercare. We can also offer specialist advice on a 3-5 year management plan to help establish and maintain a healthy, species-rich meadow.

All our seeds are true UK native wildflowers, harvested from sites across the country many within Cumbria and some from our own meadows. We also work with Wildlife Organisations and collect wild seed from their Nature Reserves and other wildlife sites under a DEFRA permit.
By choosing our products, you support British growers and suppliers who work closely with local farmers and businesses. However, be aware that some online sellers import non-native plants and seeds. While these may be cheaper, they are not true UK natives and may not suit our environment.
For orders over 10,000g (10Kg) please contact us for bespoke prices.
| Management | Suggested sowing rate of between 4g – 15g per m2 this will depend on site conditions, example sowing onto bare soil would require higher sowing rate. Our seed usually contains about 70-80% native wild grasses and 20-30% forbs (colourful flowers). IN COMPARISON – OUR ORCHARD SEED PRODUCT USES NATIVE WILD GRASSES, IF COMPARING TO OTHER MEADOW SEED PRODUCTS PLEASE BE AWARE SOME SUPPLIERS USE NON-WILD AND/OR AGRICULTURAL VARIETIES OF GRASSES. These are normally bigger and more aggressive and may out compete the colourful wildflowers. |
