Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) is a striking perennial with tall stems topped by egg-shaped heads of pink or purple flowers. It grows in damp grasslands, along streams, and on waste ground across much of southern England, Wales, and Ireland, though it is scarce in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Blooming in summer, Teasel flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. While its spiny seed heads provide winter food and shelter for birds. Its architectural form adds height, texture, and interest to wildflower meadows and naturalistic plantings.
