Sharp Rush (Juncus acutus) is a robust, evergreen perennial growing 60–120 cm tall, with stiff, dark green, spiky foliage. From June to August, it produces clusters of brown, inconspicuous flowers along its stems. The plant thrives in wet, sandy, or saline soils, making it ideal for coastal marshes, ponds, and damp meadows. Juncus acutus adds structure, texture, and year-round greenery to naturalistic and wetland plantings.
