Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) is a familiar grassland perennial and the largest native member of the daisy family in the UK. It has medium-tall, unbranched stems topped with solitary white flowers surrounding a yellow disc. Its toothed, spoon-shaped leaves on long stalks are distinctive once recognised. Also called Moon Daisy or Dog Daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare attracts a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hoverflies, adding both colour and ecological value to meadows and grasslands.

Oxeye Daisy prefers well drained ,neutral to base rich soils ,and does not do well in waterlogged areas. It is found in meadows and moderately grazed pastures as well as waste ground ,railway banks and road verges. Oxeye Daisy needs cutting back in July or August. |
