Description

Hedge Cranesbill (Geranium pyrenaicum) is a hardy perennial wildflower that produces attractive violet-purple flowers with dark veins from June to September. Its spreading growth habit brings long-lasting colour to grasslands, hedgerows, roadside verges, and natural planting schemes.

This species thrives in well-drained soils and grows best in full sun or partial shade. It naturally occurs in hedgerows, field margins, meadows, roadside verges, and waste ground across the UK. As a result, it is an excellent choice for habitat restoration, meadow creation, and conservation projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the summer. Additionally, its extended flowering season provides a reliable food source for wildlife. The dense foliage also creates valuable cover for beneficial insects and helps establish species-rich habitats.
