Description

Heather Ling (Calluna vulgaris) is a hardy native evergreen perennial that produces masses of small pink to purple flowers from July to September. Its long flowering season brings vibrant colour to heathlands, moorlands, and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

This species thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and grows best in full sun. It naturally occurs on heathland, moorland, coastal heaths, and upland habitats across the UK. As a result, it is an excellent choice for heathland restoration, habitat creation, and conservation projects.

The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects throughout late summer. Additionally, Heather Ling provides valuable shelter and nesting habitat for birds, insects, and small mammals. Its evergreen foliage also delivers year-round structure and interest, even after flowering has finished.

Our Heather Ling plants for sale are priced per plant. For orders over 500 plants please contact us.
