Description

Great Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is instantly recognisable by its tall flower spike, which can reach up to two metres. The bright yellow blooms appear in summer across England, Wales, and southern Scotland, though the plant is less common in northern and western Scotland and Ireland. Great Mullein thrives on open scrubland, rough grassland, wasteland, and hedge banks. Its striking flowers attract bees and other pollinators, adding height and colour to summer landscapes.

Served as traditional remedies for respiratory ailments; the leaves were historically prepared to treat chronic coughs, asthma, and throat irritation.
