Field Woodrush (Luzula campestris) is a low-growing perennial commonly found in grasslands, meadows, and open woodlands. It forms loose tufts of soft, hairy leaves and sends up slender stems topped with small, dark brown flower heads in spring to early summer. One of the earliest flowering rushes, it provides an important nectar source for insects. Its delicate structure and subtle colour add texture and interest to meadows, woodland edges, and wildflower-rich habitats.
