Caraway (Carum carvi) is one of the oldest spices in Europe, caraway has a nutty, bittersweet flavour. The plant its self has several long, ascending stalks and delicately split feathery leaves. The primary flower stem, which is 40-60cm long, has a little umbel of white flowers at the head. It grows best in well-drained soil and direct sunlight.
