It thrives near ponds, marshes, and watercourses, producing bright yellow flowers from June to August. Its distinctive square stems and simple, aromatic leaves make it easy to identify. The flowers attract bees, hoverflies, and other pollinators, while the plant contributes to the structure and biodiversity of wetland edges and damp meadows.
