Brooklime (Veronica beccabunga) is a native perennial wildflower. That thrives in wet habitats, producing clusters of bright blue flowers from May to September. Its glossy, succulent leaves and creeping stems make it well suited to pond margins, streams, ditches, wetlands, and other consistently damp environments.
Commonly found along the edges of rivers, marshes, and wet grasslands throughout the UK. Brooklime prefers moist to waterlogged soils in full sun or partial shade. Its spreading growth habit provides valuable ground cover while helping to establish diverse wetland habitats and stabilise pond and watercourse margins.
The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, hoverflies and other pollinating insects. While the dense foliage provides shelter for aquatic and marginal wildlife. As a UK native wildflower, Brooklime is an excellent choice for wetland restoration, habitat creation projects and naturalistic landscaping.
