Description

Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) is a tuberous-rooted, herbaceous perennial in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. Native to calcareous and neutral woodlands, it grows up to 15 cm and produces large, yellow, cup-shaped flowers above a collar of three leaf-like bracts. Which generally bloom in late winter and early spring.

Our Winter Aconite are true native plants grown from seed collected from our native woodlands. The Winter Aconites are supplied as tubers (similar to bulbs) and are planted the same as bulbs. We can provide general site locations of the sourced stock if required. The tubers/bulbs need to be planted between September and the end of November.

Please note that some bulbs/tubers, when planted in autumn, many not always flower the next spring, but instead come up as green leaves. If they miss one year, they will flower the following year.

Price quoted per individual tubers. This product has a minimum quantity of 20 tubers. For orders over 1000 Winter Aconite bulbs/tubers please contact us as we can arrange a bespoke quotation. The tubers/bulbs will be sent out as soon as they are ready.

All our plants are native British wildflowers grown from wild seed in our sustainable peat free nursery.
