Latin Name: Sanguisorba officinalis
Description: Great Burnet plants are distinguished by their elongated burgundy flower heads when in flower. A tall plant, it grows in meadows, wet grassland, road sides, banks and hedgerows, most commonly in central and northern areas of England, but also sometimes in south Wales and the south of England. Great Burnet is a good source of nectar for bees and hoverflies.

Management: Great Burnet plants do well in damp grasslands, and will grow in flowerbeds. Cut back in early spring.
